I saw this movie not expecting to like it, but I ended up enjoying the whole movie.I took my son and daughter to see the movie. My son liked the action but my daughter hated the movie because of a certain scene which involves partial mutilation of a polar bear!Go see the movie and make your own decision.

This movie is a good movie that shows that just because kids misbehaive dosent mean it's the end of the world. I feel that there is nothing wrong with this movie and those who say it goes aganist god should watch it first befor making judgement. It's a very good move to watch.

I saw it. I loved it. I mean Nicole Kidman's character was just amazing, her character is the reason there has to be a second one. I am so excited I can not wait till it comes out because there are so many questions it just leaves you wondering.

After all of the controversy, I did not know what to expect. Well, I thought it was wonderful...full of wonders! I am a very religious person even though I do not attend church (organized religion).. I believe in God and always will. Not because I was brainwashed, but because I have free will...and I have faith. As a movie, it was highly entertaining. The first 20 min. seemed a bit slow because they were setting up the characters and situations. But after that it took off!! Fun and excitement and thought provoking ideas! Thrilling sequences. This is a very good movie and I look forward to the sequels. A person who believes in God should not be afraid to have his faith challenged. There is a lot of good in this movie.

This was quite possibly the worst movie I've seen in the last 5 years. While there were some reasonably pretty scenes, the story was horrible, the dialog was ridiculous the plot was incoherent. I wanted to leave the theater after 30 minutes but thought I'd give it a chance - that was a mistake. The funniest part was that the last 5 minutes was just a set up for a sequel. If this is the kind of crap that Hollywood considers a quality movie, I might have to start reading again.

The religious controversy is missing from this movie. It is perhaps better for fantasy oriented teens and adults than for children. Check out my full review on www.johnhuntspace.com

My son and I loved this movie and plan on seeing it again since the graphics, story line, and acting are so great. We can't wait for the next one! And guess what, my son still believes in god, YAY!! Its just a movie/story people relax. My son knows that god loves everyone no matter your beliefs, religious acts, or lifestyle. Even if it does teach something other than what you believe in, doesn't everyone have the right to their own thoughts and opinions?

Do NOT see this movie! The Author is a fool to write about God in that way and i think this movie should not even be on the big screen at all! People do not really know what this writer is trying to do to us,which is trying away from God.

I like movies, sometimes even bad movies but this chopped up mess was such a waste of my time. When it comes to DVD release, don't even by it then thinking it might be better at home. In no way would this movie be any better. (Writer's strike should have happened sooner to save this one.)

The Golden Compass was an incredible epic book. The movie was a lame attempt at bringing this book to life. At just under 2 hours the screen writers tried to fit to many details in that left the movie jumping constantly without any attempt of transitions and the dialog was corny and childish. If they wanted to make an epic movie worthy of having the same name as the books the movie would have needed to be at least 3 hours. Hopefully the sequals will have a different director and a better screen writer that either decides that the movie will be the 3 hours needed to make an epic movie as with the Lord of the Rings or they will take a lesson from the Harry Potter movies and take out parts of the book, follow one main story line, and make a good 2 hour movie.
