Worst movie Ever! So glad I waited those 2 months to get this garbage for useless piece of trash. Maybe 3 min. of terror. No more. And, per usual, it was all shown on the tv review months ago. I do not consider myself a fool, though, because if I would have seen it in the theatre for a $25 date for 2, I May have been a good piece of goo to add to this junk. They needed a good wrist slicing in there, too. Leave this movie alone, and for Real, do Not follow up with even a $1 follow up version of this empty hole. Cathy

AWFUL...Truly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Bad acting, I mean really bad. The story was lame and only got worse with time.

This is the worst movie I have seen since The Wickerman! There is nothing more excruiating than having to sit in the theater through a terrible movie. The only good part was the crazy old lady towards the end.

Even though the first half was half way decent, the last half was so bad that I almost wanted to get up and leave. I would have left if I hadn't paid $10 a ticket to see this piece of garbage. It was just totally stupid. Too bad because it was a good idea, but not carried out. Save your money, don't even bother renting it. Bad Bad Bad.

Ths was by far the most ridiculously bad movie I have ever seen. First, the "happening" kept changing.....first it only happened in cities, then small towns, then on roads, in the wind, out of the wind, in a car, in the open air, in a group, not in a group! Does anyone ever find out why it never "happened" to Mark Wahlberg? He was in all these places and situations! And if this wasn't bad enough, the dialogue was weak and unrealisitic and people's reactions to this horrific tragedy was almost calm! Who would leave their only chld during a crisis to go after their wife, who is most likely dead anyway? And then just when you think you're going to die, you slowly and methodically walk to your true love! Why weren't they running to each other? Why in the middle of this scary scene in a house with a completely weird stranger, would a woman go across a field with a child to play in a spring house anyway! Who acts like this. It was just bad in so many ways. Don't see it...not even on video.

My husband and I finally got away from the kids in what was about the first real "date" in over 2 years. We decided to see this movie before dinner. Probably should have gone to Indiana Jones. I do admit that the ending was a bit of a killjoy, the acting was comically horrible as I found myself laughing often, and the "suicide" scenes were disturbing and fairly predictable. That being said, I don't think I will ever look at trees the same again. The rustling of the wind the last few days has sent moments of thoughtful paranoia into my mind. And isn't this the point of a horror movie? Not M. Night's best, but the premise was fantastic. Too bad he couldn't have put the whole package together. I'm hoping years from now someone decides to remake it into a true thriller. Maybe by then I'll be able to go on another "date" sans children. Wishful thinking of course.

The movie was DEFINITELY NOT better than Lady and Village. This movie made absolutely NO sense. I stayed and watched the entire thing because I was hoping it would get better. I am completely dissapointed with M. Night. I LOVE all of his movies, and this one was by far the worst. I was waiting for this movie for 2 months, and I am sorry I wasted my money. The acting was terrible. I spent more time laughing at Mark's girlie voice and bad acting than concentrating on the movie. I do have a few questions...
What the heck was the point of the phone calls from Joey??? What was that about?
I am still wondering what happened to the little girl's mom. The plot included her yet we never found out who she was, and what happened to her, or if she is alive.
What the heck was the deal with the old woman?? That was basically pointless.
aaaaahhhhh what a shame this movie had the potential to be amazing.
I agree, the movie should be renamed to "WHAT'S HAPPENING??"
LOL

So sad that so many people did not enjoy The Happening. I just saw it and loved it. Shyamalan has the guts to try new themes. The movie was clever and witty and I loved Zooey Deschannel and Mark Wahlberg. The story is plausible in the the science was pretty accurate. I plan to be much nicer to my plants now. I also enjoyed the humor in juxtaposition to the moments of gore. This is not run of the mill horror flick. It's an M. Knight Shyamalan film. I think the problem that he faces is that viewers want The Sixth Sense Parts 1,2 &3. I like the variety in his films.
