    Claudia Puig USA Today

Shannon's restrained and mesmerizing portrayal, bolstered by an excellent offbeat supporting cast, makes for an edgy and compelling Mob yarn. show more

As Richard Kuklinski, the Garden State guy who sleepwalks into an infamously deadly life he was born for, Shannon hits a whole other level. show more

    David Rooney The Hollywood Reporter

The Iceman is a vivid evocation of a remorseless sociopath sustaining a double life as a contract killer and devoted family man. Gritty, gripping and unrelentingly intense, Ariel Vromen’s film boasts richly detailed character work from an ideal cast. show more

Discordance, meet The Iceman, a film so wrong-footed it should take Eugene Levy out for a coffee. show more

The dialogue is hard-bitten and Mamet-sharp. show more

So it's a bit squishy at the center. But the film is sleek, purposeful and extremely well acted. show more

It's an unsettling piece that reminds us how even monsters aspire to living the American dream. show more

    Joe Williams St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Because the sociopath at the center of this family portrait never asks for forgiveness, The Iceman is truly chilling. show more

The point of The Iceman is “Even monsters are human,” but it takes a great actor to make a dubious theme convincing. show more

    Lou Lumenick New York Post

The overall effect tends to be as chilly and monotonous as Shannon’s demeanor as Kuklinski — a real disappointment. show more

Excellent acting all around. Good to see Ryder back in the saddle...did a great job as the innocent wife. Had a problem knowing who was who because the bad guys all looked alike and in muted dark lighting. Beautiful contrast between K\'s brutality on one hand and his family tenderness on the other.

Hate to say it ********** a waste of time and money. Was familiar with the story and am fond of actors Michael Shannon and Ray Liotta but this film never goes anywhere and after it was done, I thought to myself that I wished I was one of Kuklinski\'s victims :-) to avoid the torture of viewing it.

Pinky Luerssen Actor Michael Shannon is superb in his role as Richard Kuklinski, a 100 time hit man in NJ. This is adapted from a true story. Ray Liotta is a mobster - he always plays hoods! I liked the movie. Winona Ryder plays Kulinski\'s wife - who manages never to figure out what he husband does for a living. Good rainy day entertainment
