What a pleasure to watch a movie focused on basic human emotions...nothing fancy, no car wrecks or chases, no super heroes, nothing but real life. The main character, the son's guilt over his fear based abandonement of his best friend leads to his ultimate, noble attempt at redemption. His father's living illustration of the higher qualities of live, e.g. courage, conviction, loyalty and love made the son's predicament even more untenable. Like all great work, this was a simple story complicated by mans' shortcomings. A truly great movie.PS For those who don't understand why we are fighting radical Islam, the scenes in Taliban controlled Afghanistan shoul illustrate what happens when Sharia becomes the "Law" of the land!

I'M REALLY UPSET ABOUT PAYING 10.00 TO WATCH 1/2 A MOVIE. I DID NOT ENJOY., BECAUSE NO WARE IN THE MOVIE INFO. DID IT TELL ME 1/2 THE MOVIE WAS IN AFGHAN, AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT LANGUAGE ANY BETTER THN I SPEEK IT. THIS IRATATING PROBLEM SEEMS TO APEAR MORE OFTEN NOW THAN I EVER REMEMBER. WE PAY A LOT OF MONEY TO SEE A MOVIE TODAY , AND IT DOESNOT SEEM UNREASONABLE TO INFORM PEOPLE THAT A PORTION, OR ALL THE MOVIE IS IN A FORIGN LANGUAGE. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME THIS SPACE. THAT IS VEARY COMMUNIST OF YOU. THANKS.

The Kite Runner is the story of an Afghan boy growing to manhood who most confront the issue of his childhood, displacement because of the Soviet Invasion, and a Taliban pedophile who was sodomizing his nephew. See my full review at johnhuntspace.com/reviews

Unlike the movie "Atonement", which I didn't connect to at all, this movie was very engrossing, and allowed me to really feel moved--genuinely, and unabashedly. What great acting by the child actors, especially the wide-eyed, and beautifully innocent Hassan. Sure, there were flaws in the way the film was made, but the heart of the story won out for me. The themes of humility, shame, honor, friendship, and atonement, along with the psychological, moral, and physical trauma of war were captured with great sensitivity and disturbing truth. I highly recommend this movie, and seeing it in the theatre made the cinematography that much more special. I should warn potential viewers that this story is not for the faint of heart and has many disturbing moments. That said, every tear I shed was well worth it!

I saw this movie shortly after Christmas and found it to be a true present wrapped under my tree. A book that moved me so much, I just couldn't wait to see it. I was so relieved to see how true it was to the movie. My rating would be beyond what you could give, and every Amercian should see this powerful and poignant film about friendship and family!

Almost better than the book. Alot of emotions, a sense of understanding the country more, pure devotion amongst friends and family. Brought joy and tears. Loved it.

Kite Runner is just an Amazing Movie. I recommend this movie for everyone. High quality movie, with stellar acting, screenplay, directing, and editing. Really moving story that shows the human drama of how love and friendship can withstand the test of time, human mistakes, and a war torn country.

When I go to the movie review I only go to the remarks of the public not the critics. Most of the times the critics' agenda is not to offend or to offend certain actors or directors. So their reviews are based on politics similar to our own politcians.

Looked forward to seeing the movie. Having read and enjoyed the book, I was concerned that they would take liberties and not be true to the original. My fears were unfounded. Great movie and great performances by the unknown(At least to me )actors. My wife had tried to read the book but found it hard to follow. She loved the movie. A sad but somehow uplifting movie that we should all see, if just to observe how ;people in other countries live and relate to one another.

One of the best movies I have seen in a long time. So moving and touching. I cried the whole time. A true story of friendship, betrayal and redemption. Also shows the reality in a war torn country. Let's pray that there would be no more WAR in the world. Innocent people are dying every day, and superpowers are selling their arms.
