I love this great classic tale.Patty Duke plays a blind girl, whose parents refuse to admit their child has a challenge. We meet Annie Sullivan (Bancroft),who is also blind from childhood.Hired by the... Kellers,Sullivan has a no-nonsense way of doing things.I love her quote, "I see her as a seeing child, while you see her as a blind child". Throughout these trials,we see little Helen as testy, not so trusting of this newcomer. What unfolds,is a breakthrough, where Sullivan takes the child outside to the trellis.A light of hope shines,as you realize the word "water" is the triumph that makes Helen remember. Helen gleams as she says "wah-wah".her inquiring mind, now wants to grasp all there is to know about the world. The most beautiful scene,is when Helen signs "teacher" to Annie Sullivan, her mentor.
