This is a great American film. The Beatles even covered one of the songs, Till There Was You. Shirley Jones was just gorgeous and her voice was beautiful. This also has some rap in it, the first \"song\" on the train, Rock Island, is basically rap as is Ya Got Trouble. Not bad for a bunch of white guys in the 50s.

Best musical at the end of the era. MUSIC MAN beat WEST SIDE STORY on Broadway for "best musical"--(surprising, if you think of it). Looking backward to a "better time"?
