the movie freaked me out, and im not scared often in movies. i am now anxious to read the book. i felt like i was really there with the characters and the plot was very interesting and very gory/scary. i had to turn away at many points. the ending, however, made the movie not as good as i had hoped. we see Amy get out with the jeep and reach the road, so dose that mean she really escaped? They should have shown what happened to her once she escaped...Who were those two guys at the end? And who was the girl in the very beginning .. i thought it was Amy but apaprently not cuz Amy escapes? if anyone could explain these i'd appreciate it. But overall, movie kept my interest the entire time .. i'd reccommed it. I am going to buy the book tomorrow and read it..and i wouldn't mind seeing the movie again too. Don't pay attention to these people with no high school education who say its a bad movie, take it from someone with a COLLEGE DEGREE; it's not all that bad and NOT a waste of money.

This movie was not as good as i expected, BUT it was still worth the money i paid for it. Everyone these days have high expectations and complain because there was one thing missing in their entertainment factor; if u understand what im sayin. ANYWAYS the movie was entertaining, interesting ABILITY the things had, and good story line.I do not understand HOW the decent could have had anything to do with the ruins other than friends go to something thats supposed to be a tourist spot. TRUST ME I've seen the decent a billion times (my favorite horror film of all time) and it has NOTHING to do with this movie)people these days just do not know how to enjoy what they are watching with an open mind before watching it instead of hoping/expecting whats gonna happen. This seems to happen a lot. W/e So yeah, i think you should see it if you enjoy a pychological/gore horror. but i will advise, there is not a monster, so dont think there is something controlling them; you'll know what i mean after u see it. and NO them does not stand for the characters

Waste of time. Film moves at a good pace but the overall unbelievability of the whole damn scenerio is too big to overcome. Another piece of garbage in a Mayan temple sized pile of horror movie crap.

Ok, here's my opinion.I picked up this book last year at Walmart. It was 6 bucks. It is...and I want to really make this point known.... EXCELLENT!! Scary, tight, a REALLY good read!! It is slighty over 500 pages, I could not put it down, finished it in 3 days.On the the level of King, Koontz, if you are into horror. This is Steve Smith's second book, the last one, A Simple Plan, was released back in 1993.Now....the movie. A little scary. It followed the book for the most part. Acting not the best. It really did not hold your interest, people in my theater were laughing at the "scary" parts!! Mr. Smith also did the screenplay. Was the most awful movie ever, as some people have said here? No, I don't think so, but was it worth the price of admission? No, not to me. Maybe a rental. My verdict: Book: 10 out of 10 Movie: 5.5 out of 10Buy the book, you will NOT be disappointed!!

This movie was very different for a regular horror movie. The gore and bloody scenes were there so if you enjoy this you will like it. Interesting movie and I felt there were a few things missing like more suspence. Also, there was no story that will make the movie more interesting that just a mayan ruin with sometype of bloody ritual going on between the local mayan tribes and the ruins. Nothing was ever told on why the Mayan's did that so I think this is why the movie has not gotten the best reviews. If you like horror movies, you will like this one. If you dont like these type of movies, do not experiment.
