The two guys in the end were the 2 greeks. The other greek left them the map in the begining while they were past out and everyone was debating wether or not they would actually come and they did. I'm assuming the girl in the beginning was the girl Henrich (Mathias' brother) oringinaly met and went to the ruins with. You should definitly read the book if you liked the movie. The characters are actually alittle different and each of their fates is different then that of the movie.

The book was outstanding! The movie sticks close to the story line. The trailers seem exciting and as intense as each page of this thriller. With a total of 503 pages, it only took me four nights to read it. You can't put this book down and it looks like you can't stay in your seat with this movie.

the movie freaked me out, and im not scared often in movies. i am now anxious to read the book. i felt like i was really there with the characters and the plot was very interesting and very gory/scary. i had to turn away at many points. the ending, however, made the movie not as good as i had hoped. we see Amy get out with the jeep and reach the road, so dose that mean she really escaped? They should have shown what happened to her once she escaped...Who were those two guys at the end? And who was the girl in the very beginning .. i thought it was Amy but apaprently not cuz Amy escapes? if anyone could explain these i'd appreciate it. But overall, movie kept my interest the entire time .. i'd reccommed it. I am going to buy the book tomorrow and read it..and i wouldn't mind seeing the movie again too. Don't pay attention to these people with no high school education who say its a bad movie, take it from someone with a COLLEGE DEGREE; it's not all that bad and NOT a waste of money.

I actually had the pleasure of finishing the book the night before seeing the movie, Everything they could possibly change, they changed. I personally believe to save money on a big money action horror movie. A phenomanal read, great book, really good suspenseful story, and then the movie screwed it up. AND ROYALY AT THAT! MAKING UP CHARACTERS, AND NEW STORY LINES. REARRANGING PLOTS AND CHARACTERS TO DIE DIFFERENTLY THAN THE BOOK. POETIC LICENSE IS ONE THING, MAKING THIS FROM BOOK TO MOVIE IS THE REAL H O R R O R !!

The movie starts off a little scary and interesting but goes downhill from there. Unlike some other reviews say, the story (at least the sci-fi part) was unbelievable and predictable. Occasionally in the short time of the movie something peaks your interest, but other then that it is just gory and unexciting. Gore with entertaining is good, gore with bore is bad. Go see it if your bored and want to see some hot chick (the blonde) with her top off.

This movie is a complete waste of time unless you just love to see gore. I have a pretty strong stomach for gory seens but this one made me look away a few times. As far as the plot goes it sucked. You new the outcome of the movie 30 minutes in and I was ready to leave at that point. Don't waste 90 minutes of life on this one. You have been warned.

I think i liked the book ending better where they made a hang glider out of the tent and flew off the ruin.Good adaption of the book to movie anyways.

Ok, here's my opinion.I picked up this book last year at Walmart. It was 6 bucks. It is...and I want to really make this point known.... EXCELLENT!! Scary, tight, a REALLY good read!! It is slighty over 500 pages, I could not put it down, finished it in 3 days.On the the level of King, Koontz, if you are into horror. This is Steve Smith's second book, the last one, A Simple Plan, was released back in 1993.Now....the movie. A little scary. It followed the book for the most part. Acting not the best. It really did not hold your interest, people in my theater were laughing at the "scary" parts!! Mr. Smith also did the screenplay. Was the most awful movie ever, as some people have said here? No, I don't think so, but was it worth the price of admission? No, not to me. Maybe a rental. My verdict: Book: 10 out of 10 Movie: 5.5 out of 10Buy the book, you will NOT be disappointed!!

Very neat concept, completely unlike what I'd expected. The story was believable, in the horror movie sense. The predatory nature of threat was an intelligent concept, a not too far fetched expansion of what earth's existing plants can do. The idea of the actors being kept where they were (in the ruins) was valid and the behavior of the actors was very believable--not genius, not stupid, just dealing with a really crappy situation that was bad enough to make suicide palatable. For those who believe any "horror" movie requires visual shocks, monsters, yada yada to be good, this movie may be beyond their intellect. But for a good, basic thriller where one can empathize with the cast, go see this movie! Oh, BTW, Jenna Malone (the blonde) is HOT!
