Just looking at the reviews before I take in the movie tonight. Looks great. Thanks to SNOWTOCROW for letting the cat out of the bag about "April" (which ever character that is). Now I know something sad is about to happen (suicide - I'm guessing). Thanks!!

I went to a prescreening of this movie yesterday and I absolutely love it. This is such a well written story. The movie was just awesome. It is certainly an award winning movie. The actors and actresses in this movie gave a phenomenol performance. Nobody overacted. So, the story just took its own natural course. This movie kept me on the edge of my seat. I would go and see it a second time and I would definitely purchase the dvds. This certainly demonstrated the cool, calming strength of the African-American woman and how black women have always been a fortress to other people. Dakota Fanning was just wonderful. She is such a good actress and quite believable. She is certainly pro to be so young. I didn't read the book first. But, after talking to other people who did, most of them said that the movie stayed true to the book. Make sure to go and see this one. It is this year's best movie.

Can't wait to see the movie!! What a Cast!!!! This, to me, is one of those books that makes you proud to be a woman...black, white, or otherwise.

I thought the book was great! This movie is going to be a box office hit!!!!! Perfect Casting, I can only hope they don't screw this up big time and make it something it's not.

My cousin, Mari, turned me on to this wonderful book. I couldn't put it down! We have been waiting for the movie to come out for a few yrs, now. Great casting! Although, Oprah would have been wonderful in the mix, too. I have given this book as gifts, I loved it so much. Can't wait to see the movie!

The book was well written but flawed. White people don't realize that most black people aren't these noble creatures who'd ratther have the crap beaten out of them by a klansman than not be able to speak theisr minds. Black people admire the writing but recognize the implausability. Why did April commit suicide? How many black women back then committed suicide? And why did the black, young man take a white girl along on his honey deliveries? This is the south, back in the day, white people! I'm black with Alababma roots and I started school in the 1950's. No black boy or man was stupid enough to ride around with a white girl or woman in the South back then. It would've been tantamount to suicide.

I loved the book so much that I wish there were a sequel. The characters in the movies don't quite seem like the characters from the book that I visualize in my head... But I'll trust Ms. Bythewood's adaptation of the screen play. Looking forward to October 17.

If you haven't read this book....U should before the movie comes out. I didn't expect Jennifer Hudson to play Rosaleen, but I am sure she will do just fine!!I still wonder if Zach and Lily ever kept their promise to one another.
