In his uniquely funny and unexpectedly tender movie, Stiller takes us on a personal journey of lingering resonance. show more

If, while watching The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, you start wondering why Ben Stiller is acting strange, the answer comes during the closing credits: "Directed by Ben Stiller." show more

    Claudia Puig USA Today

By trying to combine fantasy and romance with goofy humor, globe-trotting adventure and feel-good inspiration, Stiller has made Mitty a mixed bag of clashing tones and facile redemption. show more

    Joe Morgenstern Wall Street Journal

Impressive landscapes, plus Kristen Wiig's appealing Cheryl, the fellow worker who inflames Walter's passion, make the movie enjoyable enough. Yet its style is a constant bafflement. show more

    Steven Rea Philadelphia Inquirer

The momentum Stiller has built up - his character's globe-trotting derring-do, the care and consideration on display in his directing - carries the movie a long way. Falling short of fantastic, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is still a fantasy to enjoy. show more

Joe Neumaier New York Daily News

The story Stiller tells manages to float in a most peculiar, satisfying way. show more

    David Rooney The Hollywood Reporter

Audiences willing to tune in to its blend of surreal fantasy, droll comedy and poignancy will be rewarded. show more

Palpably well-intentioned, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is nevertheless phony to the core. show more

    Rene Rodriguez Miami Herald

Shirley MacLaine pops up as Walter’s ever-forgiving mother, and Wigg kills in an elevating sequence in which she sings David Bowie’s Space Oddity at a karaoke bar. Penn only gets one scene, but it’s a great one, and it reminds you how funny of an actor he can be. show more

The quest ends in a surprise Capra-esque resolution, which both satisfies and cloys. show more

Good movie, great ending. If you didn't like this movie then next time go see a horror film or robots fighting.

me encanto la pelicula, yo la pude ver como si fuera, mas bien, la vida personal de una persona y no como una pelicula de tan bien hecha que estubo.

A nice movie. i enjoyed yet another \"message\" movie wrapped in a comedy by Stiller. It\'s ok ********** not perfect - and great to go to the movies and ********* yet another movie about killing. This is about a much more positive side of life! I\'m going back again. Thank you Stiller cast and crew!

Never saw the older version, but was so pleasantly surprised to see a totally fun, clean, feel good movie image in disfunctional Hollywood today! No sex, no foul language, and a fun adventure for the entire family! Coodos to Ben Stiller, who I now will have new appreciation all for!

exactly what I expected from Ben Stiller, a very stale movie. I should have known from the title.

The cinematography was so outstanding, it\'s actually Oscar worthy. The story was so happy, it made me happy. I left feeling good and that\'s a lot more than I can say about other films, recently. It proves that no one has to be perfect to be happy.

Great movie! In my younger days I would zone out. So I understand this better than most. The twist were at times almost predictable, but still enjoyable.
