A great movie yes, but hard to watch. Like slowing down to view a horrible car accident to see the carnage but being repulsed after looking. This movie leaves one shocked and very emotional. Great acting, choregraphy and music. Just a real downer.

The Stoning of Suraya M will change you forever. You will feel emotions that you have not experienced before. This movie contains all the factors of Love, family, faith, loyalty, courage, sacrifice, and betrayal. It's a story that unveils an evil truth and makes all of us witness to a crime so evil it will change the way we see the world. You will never forget this movie, and you will be better for it. A Must see for everyone.

I highly, highly recommend this film. It's powerful, moving and a must-see. It sheds light on an issue on a horrific practice that must be ended.

The present movie industry owns the rights to all theaters, what can be shown or at ************** so. It is a monopoly by big business. I often wondered why garbage is shown in all theaters yet you have to search to find a quality movie. There are many out there; many are foreign made or independently made, but all good. Only a few are shown. Like this one, a movie that needs to be shown to see an other side of an issure, not to blame, but to see the real world. The Stoning is a must see movie.

I also am stuck where the movie isn't shown. There are at least 75 screens within 15 miles of my house showing maybe 12 movies. To illustrate the insanity of the scheduling, a few years back when "A Hard Day's Night" by the Beatles was rereleased in a remastered format, not one theatre showed it. I'm certain any theatre could've filled up with alod farts like me wanting to see a big screen showing w/o the girls in the theatre screaming circa 1965. Many movies I am interested in aren't shown. In the case of "The Stoning....." I'm sure political correctness figures into though. We'll have to wait for DVD and serious subjects wil continue to be neglected as usual. BTW, Harry Potter is being shown at least 150 times a day on at least 50 screens within 20 miles of my house.

One powerful piece of work showing a cruel reality that everyone must go see, no matter how painful it might be to watch. This is one of those typical movies/stories where "american audience" just does not want to see because it depicts reality too cruelly. My question to that is, are we just going to behave like ostriches putting our heads in the ground pretending things aren't happeing out there? or are we going to educate our selves with matters of the world and the human kind?

Ok, I get it. Moviefone and AOL shows us a list of movies. And when you want to see a good one----Hollywood says "oh no, we only put the airhead movies in the theaters". Are we son kind of idiots---that lets some jurk hollywood excec tell us that we have to have a 0 IQ to watch a movie. Helpppppppp.

This movie is not playing anywhere within hundreds of miles from my home. I am dying to see it. I am so sick of "hollywood" thinking that they know what we want to see. They are ALWAYS wrong!

Despite knowing the plot outline before seeing the film, the betrayal and brutal imagery kept my stomach churning from start to finish. I almost felt ashamed to be a man, indeed, to be a human being. Yes, the film is flawed and excessive in some ways, but the overall experience is so powerful and compelling that only a zombie would be unmoved. [The NY Times reviewer was unmoved} To say that Stoning of Saraya M is a modern Greek tragedy is stating the obvious. Realizing that this tragedy is not just literary material, but recent reality, gives the film a power that is almost overwhelming. See it alone so you can cry without embarrassment.
