I'd watch the vibrant Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana in anything, but The Time Traveler's Wife is pushing it. show more

    Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle

It would really help to get into the right frame of mind before seeing The Time Traveler's Wife, because viewed from some angles - maybe most angles - the movie is ridiculous. show more

A slog rather than the sweeping romance it aspires to be. show more

    Wall Street Journal

The movie moves at such an agonizingly stately pace that by the end, side effects be damned, Henry's time-traveling gene starts to look mighty appealing. show more

A syrupy and extraordinarily ridiculous adaptation. show more

Joe Neumaier New York Daily News

The cozy sentimentality in The Time Traveler's Wife is the only thing that grounds it. Mostly it's just featherheaded. show more

    Kirk Honeycutt The Hollywood Reporter

German-born director Robert Schwentke ("Flightplan") keep things moving briskly enough so that the leaps in time mostly obscure the leaps in logic. show more

McAdams glows, as always, but Bana looks drained: I guess all that time-shifting leaves its mark on the complexion as well as the soul. show more

    Connie Ogle Miami Herald

The movie is slightly more sappy, and the characters are necessarily less fleshed out than they are in Audrey Niffenegger's dazzling novel, but neither shortcoming detracts from the film's appeal. show more

The book is richer, but this is a solid, endearing telling of the same essential story, and is well worth the price of admission for those who appreciate romantic fantasy. show more

I saw this movie after reading the book and thought the movie weak in comparison to the book. The major problem (or at least one of them) was that the casting was incredibly wrong. Perhaps Brad Pitt should have been Henry. And Gomez was blond and Russian - not anything like the name would imply.

You're better off reading a good book. The whole setup of this movie is just too contrived and stupid. The love story is sweet but unrealistic that she would take so much garbage in her life. Love does not cover all faults.

Do not waste your time or money. It's not even worth a $5 Holla. It was disjointed, non-sensical and plain ole stupid. I'm a lady who loves timeless loves stories, but this wasn't it. I went with girlfriends, and we all left the movie CONFUSED.
