I was really excited to see this movie. The novel was great , I love storys about love and loss...kinda brings things into perspective..ya know, but I just felt that the movie fell short of telling Clare and Henry's story..I know it's hard to condense 500-600 page novels into 90 minute films. I felt like the film was in fast foward and alot of important parts were left out....I don't think that the audience felt as connected with the characters love for one another, but with that said, I still think it was a great movie, just a little disappointing, and maybe that's because I had such high hopes.

Although the movie doesn't measure up to the book, it's still a terribly tear-jerking film. It made me tear up, although it was awkward at parts because there's no way anyone could fit hundreds of pages of details into a one hundred minute long movie. Lots of changes were made, but they all make sense and the movie basically has the same frame as the original book. Definitely would recommend it to friends! The movie and book would make anyone emotional.

Fans of the book, be forewarned: news has been leaked that the ending has been changed to make it more palatable and it was the "proper" thing to do. Horrible mistake. Proper is being true to the vision and the story. I just finished reading the book for the second time and knew they'd have to cut some parts, but they've cut the heart out. I have to pass on this to make my personal twelve dollar stand against Hollywood completely FUBAR-ing a great story and having the audacity to say they're doing the proper thing.

Be afraid. .... The synopsis says ``the beautiful young heiress''. Yes, her family is rich, BUT in the book the _entire_ discussion of the money is: .... C: My family is posh. They're very weird about it, too. .... End. Done. At _no_ time in the book does her family's money come in. They are given none. It gives them no feeling of security. Their own comes from elsewhere. It might as well not exist. So why call her an heiress? It sounds as if they've introduced a false element, not present in the book, filling up some of those 108 precious minutes with forgery. .... The book has enough for 1080 minutes, and it's going to take some precision surgery to end up with a coherent work, much less actually hinting at the unbelievable beauty, pathos, fear, exhilaration, ... that's in the original. .... Maybe I'm wrong. I cross all my fingers and toes. .... @BKzBEBE90: Read the book. Do it _before_ you see the movie.

BallinBabe01: If you plan to see the movie, then yes, it is worth it. If you aren't planning to see the movie, then it's still a yes. It's a sublime book, and it's now one of my favorites.

I have read the Notebook and the Time Traveler's Wife... both reduced me to tears at the end... I bawled my eyes out... but I only read the Notebook once time, and I've read the Time Traveler's Wife at least 5 times (including a re-read just this past week). The book is flawless. It's smart, sophisticated, edgey...it is not an inispid romance but one that transcends time and knows no bounds. It is a story that folds over and over upon itself like a beautiful piece of oragami paper. The love story is complex and complicated and so very worth it despite all of difficulties imposed by Henry's *************. You COULD compare it with the Notebook by saying that...if you liked the Notebook...you'll LOVE the Time Traveler's Wife... but the TTW is SO MUCH MORE than a story like the Notebook. I am hoping this was not filmed as a chick flick, because Henry DeTamble is a deeply troubled man's man with a self-destructive streak that persists until he find the reason for his existence.
