The Truman Show is a fantastic movie and shows a real point in life. When you walk into the store, there is cameras watching you almost EVERYWHERE and you could be picking your nose! It's almost like your life is on TV, just like Truman. Great acting, story and a marvelous..well filmed and edited movie. Honestly, if they made a remake or sequel...it would stink.

It seems that the Truman Show is so alternative from the mainstream that the audiences are stunned and agitated at the first sight. Yet, it is no more than a small portrait of reality. Just as the movie Dead Poets Society, director Peter Weir shows the provocative idea of breaking the convention and think of things in a higher stage. Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank proved himself as a dramatic actor rather than a typical comedian in this movie. The action comedy movie Mask which is also starring by him used all kinds of special effects. On the contrary, Mr. Carrey in the Truman Show inspires and moves people by his touching and natural performance. Truman (Jim Carrey) who unconsciously lives his entire life in the largest studio in the world, where all of people are actors is being broadcasted to billions of audience all over the world for 24 hours. People's enormous interests and curiosities in his personal life make this drama a commercial success. Christof(Ed Harries) is the director of the Truman Burbank show, he carefully guesses audience's tastes, arranges unexpected stories for Truman. His name is a little figurative, similar to Jesus Christ. Actually, he is trying to play the role of God in his life and has been successful in doing this for thirty years. The drama Truman Burbank Show dominates the audience throughout the world. However, the ironic ending is, after the audience’s short cheering for Truman's intelligent decision, they switch the channel to see “what else is on”. The movie is excellent not only because of the brilliant director Peter Weir and the super star Jim Carrey, but also the well-constructed and profound story written by Andrew Niccol. The story contains the controversies of fate, moral issues and the influences of corporation. It is a metaphor for the real world. Niccol stirred them up and made the movie into a touching story with real emotions and edifying theme. The reality of life is where the inspiration came from. According to Nielsen Television Report, the average time of every American household spent in watching TV is about seven hours a day during 1997 to 1998 and the amount of time was steadily rising to eight hours a day in 2007. The post twentieth century was the time when television was the leading media. As the movie is telling a story of a man who has been manipulated by media for thirty years and who finally succeeds in escaping from an artificial world and seizes his own fate, it also stimulates us to think about the phony world we live, the world which is made up of various types of media in the 21st century and the same ************ we are in as T
