It scared the living crap out of me. Only at the movies is that a compliment. show more

I'd be shocked if we see a better horror film in 2013. show more

The net result is an entertainingly frightening film that keeps the audience in a state of alarmed, but eager, anticipation. show more

The big difference is that "The Exorcist" took the nation by storm with fresh ideas and brilliant filmmaking. The Conjuring conjures with amped-up echoes of old ideas, and represents a bet that they still retain their creepy appeal for today's audience. show more

Unexpectedly fresh, alive, and vibrant - and wonderfully traumatizing. show more

If The Conjuring were less of a con job, horror fans would not feel equally as trapped. show more

The handsomely shot, expertly button-pushing scare-fest has the polish and the cast to draw older audiences who grew up on shockers built from performances rather than CGI. show more

Wan has marshaled his crack sense of supernatural menace into making his most satisfying scare story yet. show more

The movie belongs to the women, for once, and The Conjuring doesn't exploit or mangle the female characters in the usual ways. Farmiga, playing a true believer, makes every spectral sighting and human response matter; Taylor is equally fine, and when she's playing a "hide-and-clap" blindfold game with her girls, she's like a kid herself, about to get the jolt of her life. show more

The pervasive aura of creepiness more than compensates for the low body count and inventive use of sharp instrumentation. show more

Really well done horror movie. Scary as hell without being overly cheesy. Gets pretty intense at the end; I can\'t remember the last time a horror movie moved me to tears (has that ever happened?). It\'s good. Definitely watch it in the dark.

While watching this movie you cant help but think you have seen this movie before. Thats because you have. The Warrens are a long know ghost pimps that include the Ammityville hoax . They been cooking up Hollywood scripts for years. This is another scam of theres. Save your money.

Now I know why I\'m not a horror fan. Boring, just a bunch of re-hashed clichés strung together from tired old B movies. I wasn\'t scared once

Waste of $. Might be exciting for those viewers who are under the age of 15, but most of the adults in my theater didn\'t like it at all. Predictable.

Terrible. I don\'t see what all the good reviews are about. This movie is a bunch of horror movies spliced together to make it look original. I couldn\'t wait for it to end.
