overall good movie, it seems a little like an Scottish Free Willie to me. Dotted with moments of Humer and suspense i would give it three stars. the acting was well portrayed for the most part, and the graphics were decent enough to be semi-believable. However, with instances of profanity, a mother who lies to her children about their fathers death, children who lie, decieve and hide things from their mother and never learn any better, and a handy man who helps the children in their deciet, the movie definatly lacks in the teaching and morals that cinematography was meant to portray.and finally to the critics, i find it alarming that many of you rated this movie so highly when you ranked other family friendly movies (such as the chipmunks) so low. many of you seem to have issues with what truely makes a good family film. but thats just my opinion.

I took my two kids to see this movie and they loved it and my boyfriend and I hated it. We thought it was boring. The kids liked it though so that was a good thing. (A 7 year old boy and a 10 year old girl)

I almost missed this movie because I watched Ebert and Roeper who are just full of CRAP!!! This is a good movie for adults and children. It has a cute storyline. It's entertaining the whole way through. There are some funny parts and some tear jerking parts. It's just a really good movie. It is totally worth the time and money to see it. I thought it would be hokey, but they made it believable and fun to watch. My 2 kids ages 8 and 13 loved this movie. So don't listen to critics. Go and see this movie and enjoy yourself!

The only good thing about this movie was Will Smith, although he should be ashamed of himself for agreeing to do it.This was a BIG RIPOFF of 28 Days Later - which was, by the way, MUCH better! Save your money and just watch 28 Days...The first half of the movie was hard to follow, having been done poorly--if you didn't see the previews would you have known clearly what the heck was going on? And the dummies - why was he talking to the dummies? Were they supposed to be people frozen by the virus? I thought everyone who got the virus became infected, not "frozen"???

I took my 10 year old sister to see this movie after we had seen the previews. My older brothers (16) and husband went to see I AM LEGEND but my sister being a scardy-cat like me, didn't want to see it. I figured this would be a good goofy movie from the previews. Boy was I wrong, this movie is a horrific version of FREE WILLY! My sister told me that see cried multiple times because the movie either made her sad or made her scared. I am appalled that a movie of this sort would be represented as a child's film.

The preview for "Water Horse" is oh-so-cute, but the last third of the film is remarkably violent. The cutesy pup, complete with little Shrek ears, becomes a monstrous adult; the film becomes typical Hollywood excess and stupidity, with numbskull would-be-soldiers firing machine guns and incredible amounts of artillery while attempting to kill the beast. There's a moment where the beast hovers over a man in the water; I was praying, "Please don't let my daughter see this thing EAT this man" (a la "Jurassic Park"). The sadistic, manipulative filmmakers leave us and the man hanging (from the beast's mouth) interminably before it finally throws the man to shore. Offscreen, however, the beast eats, or least kills, a dog that had tormented it when the beast was a pup. Amid all this mayhem, my 8-year-old daughter, through her tears, says, "This movie should have been PG-13!" As a father who cares, I try to carefully screen movies for my children. "Water Horse" left me furious; the preview is misleading; the movie is NOT for young children. Don't waste your time or your money, but if you must, note that kids under 12 should stay away.

I took my 9 year old twins to see this movie and they really enjoyed it, as did I. I do not understand the critisism. I chose to focus on the lovely relationship the boy had with the water horse.

We showed this movie at our monthly family movie night and it was a hit with young and old. The acting was superb and the storyline entrhalling. The sequences with the waterhorse were wonderfully down and gave everyone a vicarious thrill. Reccomment to those who enjoy great family entertainment

YES IT WAS A LITTLE DARK AND INVOLVED SHOOTING, BUT IT WAS BASED IN A WAR TIME SETTING. NOT VIOLENT AT ALL. MY DAUGHTER LOVED IT AND SHE GOT THE POINT OF THE MOVIE. IT WAS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE BOY AND THE ANIMAL. I DON;T UNDERSTAND WHY SOMEONE FEELS NO CHILD UNDER 12 SHOULD SEE THIS MOVIE. WHY? WE LOVED IT. IT WAS ACTUALLY THE FIRST MOVIE MY DAUGHTER SAT THROUGH AND DIDN'T ASK IS IT OVER YET.
