Little is known outside Ireland of the centuries of terror brought upon by the neighboring English but this excellent movie captures a small but important part of the sad history of the Irish struggle for freedom.

If you're not up on your Irish history, you may find this very difficult going. Unfortunately, the movie does not present the context of the conflict or the time period in an easily understandable form. I also found the ending completely unsatisfying and unbelievable.
