Rourke did an amazing job preparing for this movie and even though it would seem impossible, he did an even better job acting in it. The movie tells the story of a washed-up wrestler who struggles to survive in a world where youth is beauty, beauty is fame, and fame is money. He plays the character of "The Ram" as if he had lived his entire life in The Ram's shoes. From his hardened voice to his tired eyes, Rourke is by far one of the most under-rated actors in Hollywood today. The movie tells the story of a man who lived his life as a warrior and chooses to go out as one. Also, Marisa Tomei allows us to see a tough side of her that almost seems unbelievable but she somehow pulls it off and you will feel such compassion for her character that you will look at things in your own life much differently after watching her performance. Even if you hate wrestling, as I do, this movie is by far the best that has been out in theatres for months. Easily a "Must See".

This movie was lackluster at best and didnt live up to the hype. Although Rourke's acting was good, the story has been told a million times..this time substitute a Wrestler. I feel the movie (and acting for that matter) pales in comparison to Slumdog Millionaire, Frost Nixon and Milk)

Great movie! Finally Hollywood put out something worth watching instead of the usual Adam Sandler, Tom Cruise garbage. The movie is realistic, well acted and has an awesome script. I can't get it out of my mind. You really care about and have compassion for the characters. I thought the ending was perfect. I was balling my eyes out. Can't wait to see it again.

Rourke is Randy "The Ram" from the opening rock to the final fade out. Shows the underbelly of the bar scene, dressing room set-ups by the wrestlers for what seems real but ain't. Powerful - Strongly recommend this to all the guys and gals see it for him! A Great Flick!

To say this is one of the best films of 2008 is a severe Understatement Mickey Rourke Triumphs in the role of Randy "The Ram" Robinson and Marisa Tomei deserves the Oscar as well

A must see! The acting by both Rourke and Tomei is absolutely captivating-OSCAR WORTHY. The story line as well deserves merit for there has never been such a depiction of real-life pro-wrestling lifestyle and the passion that goes along with it. The directing puts the viewer in the abosolute prespective of the protagonist and Rourke's influences. I have come to realize that there is a hesitation to buy the ticket stub, due to the lack of advertising initiatives from the movie promoters, but if you do decide to take the plunge for the unknown, I promise you will not be disappointed nor have mixed feeling about the film. It is a real and heart felt movie that will leave you talking about it for days after experiencing it.

I wanted so much to like this film -- after all, how can one not cheer for Rourke in a such a compelling comeback role? Rourke does manage to carry this film completely on his own. But the script is poorly written and contains numerous voids and inconsistencies. The ending is horrible. It's so unfortunate because Rourke rightly deserves a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his performance, but the story is so lame and the movie is so poorly edited that what could have been a masterpiece will be relegated to obscurity within six months. An undortunate waste of talent.

Excellent !!! Glad to see Micky Rourke back. Congratulations on your Academy Award nomination. I'm not a wrestling fan but it was nevertheless extremely interesting to get interesting insight into the wrestling world from a real first rate actor. He obviously put a great deal of work into this film. Break a leg.

Welcome back Mickey Rourke! Great acting, and a story that really makes you care about Rourke's character. The movie shows what many wrestlers will do to stay in the limelite, no matter what it does to their body. If you doubt that pro wrestler's really do any of these stunts, youtube Mick Foley! Excellent, sad movie!
