A plot hardly worthy of a TV Movie let alone the big screen. After all this time, you would think that a better story line/plot would have been forthcoming. Acting by Duchovny & Anderson is stiff. Plain and simple truth is--BORING!

An excellent deep and moving film that stays with you long after the credits run. Those expecting a loud special effects fest that smacks you in the face with an overly obvious plot line (like most of the dumbed down mainstream dribble Hollywood produces these days) are going to be disappointed. Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz have delivered a subtle, thought provoking story with multiple layers that must be considered at length to be fully understood. This is the type of movie that keeps people talking and seeing it again for months as everyone seems to pick up on different nuances and view the underlying themes in slightly different ways.If you are afraid to think about a movie and consider multiple viewpoints that may not completely echo yours, don't see this movie- it wasn't made for you. However, if you are looking for something that will engage your mind, not just your most base desires to see pretty people run around blowing things up, you will thoroughly enjoy this film and feel the need to pick it apart with other intelligent people afterwards.

This is a thinking person's movie; just like so many of the X-files TV episodes were. There are so many layers to the story. Please don't go to the theater thinking that you'll get space ships and big actions. It's a mature, down-to-earth thriller, love story, a story about love, beliefs, faith, and redemption.

I was a big X files fan, still am. his movie was indeed like a long TV episode which explored Fox and Scully after the X files were closed and their relationship. So I loved that part. The pedophile ex preist was a bit yucky, as well as the all too obvious flaws in the whole organ transplant/ head transplant storyline. I still want more....

Whether you're an X-Phile (fan), or a first-timer. . . X Files: I Want To Believe is more than satisfying to anyone who fancies themselves a "thinker." If you don't enjoy using your brain, then you won't like this movie. That doesn't mean it's not comparable to the Sisteen Chapel ceiling in its complexity, beauty, and the overall feeling the viewer gets when seeing it. It just means you don't know how to appreciate it. So go watch Deuce Bigelow- and stop commenting on things you don't understand.

I really enjoyed this movie but it definately left a lot open. I wish I had read these posts before seeing it; we didn't stay after the credits and now I'm wondering what we missed! Guess I'll have to wait for the DVD. (P.S. I liked Gillian's hair!)

After seeing this movie yesterday, I felt pretty much the same, it was ok, it was not quite creepy enough, etc., but after given time to digest what I saw I realize that this was a very good movie. The series was about the relationship between Mulder and Scully, and this movie is no exception to that. Instead of black oil and aliens, we are treated to an old style mystery movie. I'll let no more of the plot out than that. I highly reccomend reading Roger Eberts review on this page, he nailed it on the head.

Movie was ok, seemed like it would have been better as a made for TV movie. Was no where near the epic movie like Fight the Future. Hopefully there will be a third movie, provided the studio gives Chris Carter the funding he needs to make a movie worthy of the X-Files. It's sad, I really miss the series and was very excited about the movie, but ended up disappointed. Gillian and David were excellent of course, but the story itself was rather lacking.

Just saw this movie and thought it was just OK. Seemed like a weak drawn out episode more than a movie. Definetly not a closure of the X-Files. I think if it was alot scarier and more intense, it would have been better.P.S. To some of you user reviewers: Whether you liked it or didn't like it, try not to give away any major plot secrets or twists when writing a review. Why spoil it for others?
