It started off pretty damn good but then it just fell apart. It ends with one of the wackiest bowling tournaments you will ever see.

The people who are knocking this movie obviously didn't see it, or else didn't understand it. "There Will Be Blood" will be a classic, --- for centuries to come. It's definitely one of a kind, and the best movie I've seen in many, many years.

My brother and I went to see this movie tonight. Once again - boy did the critics get it wrong! Up for Oscars?? Please!! This was the worst movie I have ever seen and I have seen a lot. Not only does it not follow the book it was simply god awful. Boring and far to lengthy for how it was done. The lighting in parts was so bad you could just barely make out the actors. The musical score did not even fit the movie let alone go along with what was going on in the scenes. The acting was bad. The whole movie left you waiting and hoping something good was going to materialize on the screen. It never does.

On the positive side, there was some incredibly good acting. The negative side, however, is a lot bigger. Too many characters with no reason to be there, too little plot development, too many loose ends. Where did the kid come from? Why did he become a bitter, angry drunk? What happened to Eli's brother? Why bludgeon the preacher to death anyway? Who was paying the teacher for his son all that time? Why did the kid set the house on fire? Not only that, but it was too long! I have only four university degrees, so obviously I'm not smart enough to "get" this film, and my bladder certainly couldn't last the whole time. What a waste of a fabulous actor, and what a waste of my money!

This was the last of the Oscar nods that I saw and was anticipating something much different. DDL was great in his role but the plot was long, drawn and dull.If you are interested in seeing this one I would wait for the DVD. What a waste of 2.5 hours and $10.

As always, Daniel Day did an excellent job in the lead role. He actually became this cruel character. The question I have is why this long, boring, movie was made? What is the message we were supposed to receive, that a cruel, selfish man ends up miserable? Hell, I was miserable when this dud finally ended. The son was weird, and the preacher Eli was even more weird. The ending? Ridiculous.

This movie is very long, music hypes up with scenes that don't follow the hype. Music score is loud

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Paul Thomas Anderson should be ashamed of his "movie". Where was the editing? Anderson ruined one of the greatest novels of all time, Upton Sinclair's-Oil!. Daniel Day-Lewis was good but, how difficult is it to act drunk and insane? Finally, what was the deal with slapping each other? Couldn't anybody be a man and throw a punch? Now "I'm finished!"
