Great movie ! For those that enjoy the norm in a movie. Such as... a love story, sex, fake explosions etc. your going to be disappointed. But, for those that like a story with substance this is it.

Drawn out but interesting story, made me feel uncomfortable--like too much baddness happening. Not an upper at all. The scenery and acting are very good. Would not want to see it again,

A typical pre-election dump on entrepreneurs, capitalists etc from LeftyWood.

The acting was great. The filming was brilliant. Dragged and had inconclusive ending. I would not recommend.

This was one of the worst and depressing films I have ever seen about basically a man of evilness. It basically shows just how shrewd and evil he was. To me, that's what it was all about. Fortunatley I was able to see it free but still wasted my free coupon on it. Also, why it dragged out way over 2 hours I have no clue. If you still want to see it fine, but if you're feeling a little depressed, you'd better stay away from it.

This film was boring and it seemed to drag on and on. I can't believe the critics gave this film such high praise. I saw it with a few friends and we all hated it. The characters weren't developed and there was basically no story.

This movie is a masterpiece. The parallels between oil, blood, etc., are extremely creative. The back-and-forth battle between oil and religion are evident and entertaining. The story is weaved as well as one can be woven. The aesthetics and music are breathtaking. And, or course, Daniel Day-Lewis' performance is one for the ages. It was the best single performance since Hopkins in '91. 2007 was the wrong year for Johnny Depp and George Clooney to put on best actor-worthy showings. This movie is as good as one can get, and to show how astounding 2007 is, it is arguable whether There Will Be Blood even belongs in the top 2 conversation (No Country for Old Men, Atonement).Regardless, TWBB will not soon be forgotten, if ever.

Maybe it would make sense if I'd have read the book? Maybe not. Powerful performances punctuated by irritating "music" and a beffudled plot line with characters motivated by seemingly nothing. Over time, the picture degenerates into pathos for it's own sake -- a few scenes are unintentionally funny -- while occasionally seeming to say, "Look at how intense I am! WOW am I an important picture!". Maybe there is a REALLY pretentious film school student that thinks this is genuis, but the rest of us won't be fooled. It kind of reminds me of a quote from Bill Murray's character in "Tootsie" where he is holding court with a bunch of dreamy-eyed film school students at a party: "I don't won't people to say that they liked my movie, or that they didn't like my movie. I want them to say, "WHAT did I just see?'" Yes, that about sums it up -- in addition to an apology to your date.
