  • I don't like this movie. I don't like how it walks, talks, struts and sells itself. I find it contrived, tortured, humorless, infuriating and interminable. And yet if you care anything about film and the creative drive that still exists in the people who make them, then Third Person needs to be seen. show more

  • Cold and clever to a fault, like the main character played by Liam Neeson, the movie is based on a fundamental miscalculation—that our desire to penetrate its mysteries will trump our need for people to care about. show more

  • The drama and intensity that are [Haggis's] signatures are mostly missing from these vividly dramatized but uninvolving romantic crises, none of which are particularly believable. show more

Yet one more example of a film written and directed by the same person who loses objectivity about his flawed creation, failing to place himself in the theater seat with the rest of us who can see its numerous flaws and try to figure out where it is going. Too many hidden meanings and unresolved dots to be connected. Was mentally double-parked the first half-hour as various characters were introduced with no meaningful connections. Weak directing in spots, like the 10 second delays before someone responds with a yes or no as we tapped a foot waiting. Had lots of good possibilities, but unfortunately the director couldn't pull it all together for the benefit of the audience instead of him the writer.
