Plot Summary
With the help of his wife, Becky Scruggs (Glynnis O'Connor), and veterans advocate Jack Wheeler (Marshall Colt), Vietnam veteran Jan Scruggs (Eric Roberts) campaigns to build a compassionate tribute to every American soldier who died in Vietnam. But when then-unknown art student Maya Lin wins a nationwide contest with her innovative idea for the memorial, a controversy erupts, and Scruggs struggles to convince naysayers of the power and dignity of her solemn, humanistic design.
