An enjoyer of Tyler Perry's flicks, especially the relationship/family genre, "The Family that Preys" delivers on expectations. Characters are usually interesting, and that's the case here as well with Woodard & Bates stealing the show. However, there are interesting subplots, and while TP's work can be somewhat predictable and elementary occasionally, for me, it doesn't matter because the storylines work, they're clean and normally have redemptive value. Simply put, it's a relaxing and entertaining celluloid.

The movie was outstanding. TP did an excellent job in speaking to the many issues that impact the black family. The performances of the cast members were superb. This is a well written movie; the entire cast delivered great performances. Woodard and Bates especially delivered award winning performances. For me, it is always about the take-aways in TP's movies. This movie is no different, I learned so much; I want to be better and do better and care more and give more and live more and love more. TP's movies never disappoint

I think TP is a great writer/producer/actor. I'm a lover of TP's work and I will support whatever he does, I have a question fro Impartiality, Do you critize all of the movies or Just TP's movies, b/c it seems that Stephen Speilbergs movies have the same theme as well but he still have supporters. not knocking any one but why try and criticize one producer and not the others. Then again you're one person. Apparently other movie goers enjoy his work. Keep up the good work TP.

Tyler Perry did a great job with this movie!!!!!!!! This movie was a realistic portrayal of the lives of the wealthy vs. the working class. The movie dramatized how women bond and survive. The movie illustrated the struggles of black men to provide for their family. Rock Dunbar portrayed a dedicated survivor. He was a husband trying to elevate his family through rigteous motivation and business sense. Tyler Perry's character was just grateful to have what he was working with. Perry's character was complacent yet fearful of venturing out. I enjoyed the characters and they did a phenomonal balancing act. The title is excellent and fitting for the film. I love Tyler Perry and his work is always well thought out and realistic................. Thank You, Tyler for a job well done. Most Sincere, Natalie

This was a decent movie, but definitely not Tyler Perry's best. Daddy's Little Girls and Diary of a Mad Black Woman were definitely better. It was sad to hear so many people clapping for domestic violence. Tyler Perry has a lot of potential. He just needs to make his movies more believable. One thing I was happy with is that this movie did not end with a woman being saved by some man. Most of Tyler's movies have a female character that does not love herself and cannot find love until she meets a good, most of the time christian, man who "saves" her. I was so sick of that storyline that I was going to stop watching his movies. Overall, I think that if you like Tyler Perry's movies, then you will like this one. If you don't care that much for his movies, don't get fooled by the posts that tell you that this is the best one. It clearly is not.

This movie was far from excellent. It was enjoyable at times, but it's difficult to get into a movie that is so formulaic, contrived and unrealistic. Sanaa Lathan's character Andrea was ridiculously over the top with her disdain for her husband, and Rock Dunbar's character Chris was unbelievably naive and clueless. It was sad to see the careful counterbalancing of good and evil in the movie. It seemed that Perry was afraid to anger one race or another and was certain that Sanaa's attractive and ivy-league educated character had a counterpart in Robin Givens who was equally as educated and attractive but was good. And the evil son William, was balanced by his tolerant and fun-loving mother played by Kathy Bates. It was more of a 2 hour soap opera, replete with incredible plot twists that seemed to be added for a surprise effect, but were actually anticipated and induced eye-rolling when they finally came. If you like formulaic movies where good and evil vie against each other, the calvary unbelievably saves the day at the last minute and good triumphs in the end? Then this is for you. Otherwise, wait for it to come on video and save it for your portable DVD on a short plane ride. *shrug* It wasn't great. But it wasn't the worst thing I've seen either.

A great film. One of Tyler's very best. There are lessons to be learned, but he presents it in a delicious, dark manner that entertains.

A Sweet film actually telling 2 stories simultaneously and very interesting. Tyler continues to expand his range in writing and acting. A Great cast and loved hearing Gladys Knight sing!
