  • Jolie has an army of craftsmen in her corner, notably camera poet Roger Deakins (No Country for Old Men). But it's her vision that gives Unbroken a spirit that soars. In honoring Louis' endurance, she does herself proud. show more

  • One of these days, Angelina Jolie might very well direct a great movie. She has a rare talent and intense concerns and interests. But first she is going to have to suppress some self-defeating impulses that have now twice taken potentially effective films and rendered them ridiculous. show more

  • The title isn’t “Broken,” so there’s not much doubt of the outcome. But it’s certainly regrettable, because this long and increasingly sluggish film version of the Laura Hillenbrand book celebrates an American life of singular heroism. show more

"Unbroken" is a real MUST see. We watched it as a family in our own home and it was so fantastic. We all thought Jolie got a raw deal.

I am wondering if Jolie read the book! I feel that the most important part of his journey was finding peace and forgiveness through God and religion. While watching the movie and wondering how long we were going to watch them wade at sea and then how many times we had to see him be beat down and get up....we all knew that and it was dreadful. But the real strength in that man was his forgiveness. I feel that Jolie was trying to make another action fiction out of a true historical one. She should perhaps stick to fiction next time because this one was misleading. I took my son because I knew he would never read the book and all he got out of it was hate.....not at all what I think Louis would have wanted, but everything that I think the liberal Jolie did.
