A brave experiment in cinema that richly rewards the demands it makes. The result is an amazement, a film of beauty and shocking gravity. show more

Under the Skin can be confused for a movie that hides its meanings, when it's really a movie that hides its meaninglessness. show more

Much of this is fascinating, as far as it goes, but it wouldn't go as far as it does into drama were it not for Ms. Johansson's wonderfully strange performance. show more

There’s atmosphere here, but nothing else. show more

More pictorially arresting than intellectually coherent. show more

Under the Skin is a deliberately oblique piece of work that prizes rhythms and textures above hows and whys. show more

A brilliant science fiction movie — more of an "experience" than a traditional story, with plenty to say about gender roles, sexism and the power of lust? show more

Weird. Brilliant. Stunning. Under the Skin is by far the most memorable movie of the first few months of 2014. show more

Throughout, what truly matters to director Jonathan Glazer is articulating through visual and aural enticement the unconscious power of our death drive. show more

When film critics fall in love with a movie that defies explanation and they can't even explain it, ******** original, daring, mesmerizing, sublime, etc. This film, while having some cool imagery has a flimsy story. You want a movie to take you on a ride you haven't been, but not to nowhere

An extraordinary and mesmerizing experience. Sit back and absorb it. Transcends the usual Hollywood trash...not even comparable. One of the finest films I have seen. Easily makes my all time top ten list. If you think "Transformers" are great sci-fi film making, don't bother.

Best movie I have seen in years. Kubrick-like in its art and quality. A masterpiece.

A most unusual film. I have never seen a film with not one word of exposition. It starts and goes to the end, no explanations. She is terrific, and the only one you can really understand...those Scottish burrs are impenetrable. If you want something you have to figure out as it goes, see it.

I NEVER walk out in the middle of a movie (unless nature calls). But I did in the middle of this boring, stupid, pointless, confusing, colorless film. Love Scarlett but hated this vehicle. Do not waste your money.

Endless, boring, weird, sci-fi. Some attractively photographed scenes. I certainly would not want to see it ever again.

This was the worst movie I have seen in a long time (and I see a LOT of movies.) Jumped from weird one scene to another without ever really making much sense. Even left a baby alone & crying on the beach. Woud have left but kept thinking it would all start to make some sense near the end. Nope.

Yes, it's very different, stylish and mesmerizing; ******** too slow, and except for one point at the end, I never had more than vague hunches about what the heck is going on.
