This is a movie about Nazi Germany, but the persecution of the Jews is the central to the plot. Therefore, this is not a good movie.

After the twin defeats at Stalingrad and El Alamein the German Army's leadership was aware that the war was unwinnable. However, a negotiated surrender would be impossible because one of the key allied conditions would be that Hitler and his immediate clique face justice. The story was fine, but as its been said before we know the ending. But how can you have a German movie without German accents. A few of the actors had a british accents for gods sake. I'm sorry I can not take Tom Cruise seriously as a German officer. I want my money back! Give me back the old school war movies they were better.

Great movie, I'm not a Tom Cruise fan either, but he did a great job. Of course everyone knows what the ending will be.......but it was still a great movie.

I am a Tom Cruise fan not worth the money wait for the DVD. Good story but everyone knows what happens! It is like reading the end of the book first. Glad to know that the people of Germany hated Hilter as much as everyone else. Tom you have done better!

I just saw this movie today. I thought it would be ok but did not expect it to be as good as it is. The script I thought was well written, the attention to detail great, the way it was filmed was very good. I figured Tom Cruise would be alright. Instead I felt he was exceptional. All the cast was excellent. Do not go to see this movie expecting laughter and feeling good. Go expecting to see an excellent movie that appears to be pretty accurate. I highly recommend this movie.

Outstanding historical document. The supporting cast and trappings are very accurate, even though I've seen better portrayals of some of the top Nazis. This is the best depiction of Hitler in 1944 that I've ever seen. The film, even though everyone,that know s anything about WWII, knows how it ends, was very riveting. Not everyone in Germany Heiled Hitler. The fly in the oinment is Cruise's wooden egocentric portrayal of Col Stauffenberg. Yes Stauffenberg was an idealist, but not a robot. Also, German accents are not needed as these men were portraying Germans in their own enviroment. I highly recommend this film because it sets one thinking how close these brave men came to ending the Nazi nightmare and how it could have saved millions of lives and could even have prevented the cold war that followed the demise of Germany. I was disappointed that Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, who would have been the negotiator for a truce after Hitler's death was not even mentioned in this film. Go see it. It is a must if we want to understand how our world got the way it is.
