John Cusack stars in, co-wrote and co-produced the new Political Satire Comedy “War,Inc“. I saw it at a Landmark Theatre in San Diego, as it seems to be getting a bit tougher for me to find movies I am interested in at the chain theatres. I think this may be caused by my advancing age, the same for some of my favorite stars, and the lack of subject matter for the studios to produce. Thank God for the independent filmmakers.Cusack plays Hauser, an assassin for a organization called Tamerlane. They are funding the first WAR to be entirely outsourced. Hauser deals with the stress of his work by taking full shots of Hot Sauce, which from the facial expressions he makes might be the real stuff, not fake movie Hot Sauce.He is assigned a hit in Turaqistan, a Middle Eastern Country where his cover is as the Head Honcho for a Trade Fair that is being staged in the Green Zone. Cusack keeps it in the family, as his sister Joan Cusack plays Marsha Dillion, his assistant and co-conspirator in the plot to kill Omar Sherif, who is leader of one of the Warring countries or companies. She is a very effective comedic actress and will get a few belly laughs out of most of Ya. Marisa Tomei plays Natalie Hegalhuzen a member of the media and radical writer for CNN. Tomei does a great job with her character and she and Hauser develop a strange affection for each other and spend a lot of screen time together. I think most of you will find her easy on the eyes !!The script does skip around a bit with a few famous character actors making appearances in the movie. Dan Ackroyd plays Mr Vice President who is sort of a dispatcher of the assassins. He is hilarious and I think many of you will be glad to see him on the screen, though his FART is undeveloped. Sir Ben Kingsley pops up a few times in the Film, as Walken, the Viceroy. Walken and Hauser are portrayed as rivals and are seen in a looking back in the past fashion. Be sure to stay til the end of movie to better understand their interaction. This movie would not be what it is without Hilary Duff. She plays Yonica Babyyeah, who is a Middle Eastern pop star, along the lines of Britney Spears. Her and Cusack don’t get along well initially and she tries to seduce him with all her sexiness and curves, to no avail. Yonica’s wedding ceremony is to top off the Trade show, sort of like when Tiny Tim got married on the Tonight Show. Duff gets into her part and I did not even realize it was her until I watched the credits at the end and went “oh yeah, to myself”. The Cusack, Tomei, and Duff characters develop a close bond as the almost 2 hour movie unfolds before your eyes, sometimes a little violently, as we are talkin Hit Man here. You can look forward to a surprise, as well.I personally enjoyed the film and think John Cusack should be commended and maybe awarded, for rolling the dice on this movie and deserves your support. The storyline is not of the normal Hollywood type, but I noticed that there have been quite a few movies made in the past few years with either a “Middle Eastern” setting or a high concentration of characters named Borat . I don’t bring this up in a prejudice way, but as a courtesy to Fellow Moviebuffs so you know just a little bit of what to expect once you settle your fannies into the theatre seats. Smart, funny, politically astute; great performances. Tells the story of today's mercenaries without hitting you over the head with a message. Smartest Anti-War Movie since 'Mash', which was seen during the Vietnam war but was about Korea. Go see it!
