I thought it was very well done. At times it was slow but i don't know how they would have edited it any more and still kept it understandable. Having read the books as think they did an over all good job trying to compact the very dense novel into a movie. Over all visually AMAZING! I do think it will not be everyone's cup of tea since it is not the average action packed superhero movie.I will be buying the DVD.

It was excellent - it gets better with subsequent viewing - the mark of a great film

the movie had its good and bads. The plot was unclear and the transitions caused much confusement. It was like if they had made 30 different short films(one for each character) and then played them all at the same time. The action scenes were tasteful i must add though. Though there were few they were good if only that was the whole movie instead of 30 seconds. The movie was not what i expected. I wouldnt recommend spending to much money on this film. maybe it will force them to not make aanother one or get a new director.

I was excited to see this movie, I had read the graphic novel several years ago and enjoyed it, I ignored the mixed bag reviews, I decided to wait and decide for myself. Mistake. The reviewers were *********** slow, the plot lines are disjointed, the characters are even darker than the ones in the graphic novel (if thats possible), and the flow is nonexistant. The forever long montage of altered history images stopped working after about 2 minutes...I found the history of the characters boring to watch....and the storyline (50 minutes into the movie) had not moved forward at all. I admit, this is the very first movie I have ever walked out on, I was sad...very sad that I felt the need to leave...as well as the four people who left before me. Wait for the DVD...better yet wait for cable.

People going in to this movie expecting another "The Dark Knight" are of course going to be disappointed. This is not an action movie. It's a deconstruction of the superhero genre. If you don't want to think, don't go see this movie. Fans of the graphic novel are either going to love this for how faithful of an adaptation it is, or hate it for the items that got left out and/or changed.

I saw it the day it came out. It was long, boring and disconnected movie. I agree with Henny1974's comments. And the only reason I may get the DVD is to view the pre-to-post production material. And perhaps to see what the hell went wrong.

Far from the usual fare of superhero movies, this film takes the gritty, dark side of heroes, showing us their all-too-human faults and idiosyncracies, and makes it riveting. Anyone who is looking for your typical "good guy saves the day and wins the girl" should probably stay away.
