It's more of a character study, insightful and nuanced, about a man grappling with a profound sense of inadequacy, questioning himself. In many ways, We Have a Pope recalls last year's Oscar winner, "The King's Speech": Someone who doesn't feel up to the job fate has handed him, and then struggling to come to terms with it. show more
Nanni Moretti's tender, funny and timely Vatican romp entertains, but lacks the director's customary bite. show more
As lukewarm as We Have a Pope may be as a piece of filmmaking, Moretti doesn't tread particularly gently into sacred territory. The picture could be more irreverent, but at least it dares to suggest that popes are people too. show more
This was a very thoughtful and out-of-the-box film. If you are an agnostic or a humanist or even a believer, this movie strikes a chord. It was humorous, thoughtful, and brilliant scenery.
Good film. Interesting plot. Well-directed. Amusing. A little confusing in parts, but overall it exceeds many of the films currently out there. I would give it 3.5 stars.
Boring boring boring, unless you enjoy watching a bunch of feeble old men in red coats. I would not give this even one star, but I had to. PASS!!!
