Plot & Details
Janet (Ruth Stonehouse) is the daughter of an aristocratic but penniless Southern colonel (Thomas Commerford). She works for a milliner and after delivering a hat to Mrs. Stone (Florence Oberle), she is escorted home by the woman's son, Edward (Richard Taber). He falls in love with her and wants nothing to do with his mother's choice of a mate, snobby society girl Velda Browning (Ann Kirk). When the colonel dies, Janet and Edward elope and his mother cuts him off. The couple have a child and a few years later, Edward becomes seriously ill. His mother offers to take care of him on the condition that Janet give up both him and their child. She agrees, but although Edward regains his physical health, he becomes ill with grief over the loss of his wife. His mother finally realizes she should never have parted the couple in the first place and allows Janet back into Edward's life.
