If you people understood art at all, you would understand the interpretation. The book which was my favorie as a child, was drab, and depressing in its aethetic compilation. Grow up.

This is not a children's show. My son said that it really sucked and he and his grandparents walked out of the movie. They said it was horrible. Very dark and depressing and scary. Not at all like the children's book. I don't know why they would turn this chidren's book into such a horrible dark movie. There is nothing dark about the book. It all seems to be from a child's imagination. Please do not take children to see this movie. It should be rated PG-13 or higher because it has a lot of violence.

The movie had some good parts. But it was depressing, Glum, through the whole movie. All through the movie going acrossed my mind over and over was "When will this be over?" I expected action, Adventure, or something not that! It should have been rated Pg-13 Or even R for Depressed Adults, Crude Humor, Mild laugage, and Violence. IT IS NOT A CHILDREN SHOW. The movie was like tearing up the book and writting a dumb replacment! But I have to compliment on the Charecter designes. and Costumes. Did you know the wild things where originaly Muppet Charecters?

OK I saw the reviews. I was hesitant to go. I just took my 6 year old who is not mature for his age. However he has a very active imagination. I figured I could always walk out if it was too bad. I liked it. I was worried the whole movie that something horrifying was going to happen but it never did. My son never acted scared. After the movie I asked him, what was your favorite part. He said he liked everything. I asked him what was he scariest part, he said none of it was scary. I asked him what part he did not like. He said only one part made him sad and he did not like it. I do not want to give it away but it was not too sad because I did not cry. I get pretty emotional. I did see the emotional part of this entire movie. I really felt for the characters. Now to be honest I will add my husbands opinion. He did disagree with me a bit. He felt it might be too dark for kids under 10 but he liked the movie. I do not think kids see the dark side of it. It is kind of like the adult humor in the popular kids movies such as the Pixars. We laugh and the kids look at us funny. My son noticed the goat hitting the tree, the cute owls, the big creatures, the cool snowball fight, the adventure etc. not the emotional part of lonliness and sadness. Last week we saw A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey. That was a lot scarier than this movie. I hope this helps people who are conflicted as I was about going to see it.

I took my niece to go see this movie earlier today...we left because she was in tears over how sad and scary this movie was. I cannot believe they would allow a movie about depressed ADULTS to be rated PG. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD OR ANYONE UNDER 17 TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!

The previews seemed happy and adventerous. My young sons wanted to see the movie because of the previews. I had read the book many times as a child and it did not seem that depressing. It had something like 10-15 sentences. I was troubled once the movie started, but thought it would get happier. It did not. THIS IS NOT A CHILDRENS FILM. I know it was PG, but many PG movies are suitable for children. This one was truly inappropriate for small children. The utter dispair overcome the entire movie which made even the happy parts troubling. I regret taking my sons and wish I could take it out of their heads. Believe me, I appreciate literature and symbolic vision. I appreciate what Jonze was able to *************** was a wonderful artistic film about the mind of a child and dealing with his own demons, saddness, happiness, lonilness, etc. However, it really should have had some sort of disclaimer on the previews. Like "Not suitable for young children, or older children, or even soft hearted adults."lol I myself will have hard time getting Max out of my head. So I guess Jonze accomplished what he wanted.

Yes, and as a lot of you say the dialogue was just dumb....... the movie had no plot and went nowhere....... absolutely no where.

I was so excited for this movie- thought it would be whimsical and beautiful..instead it was incredibly depressing..Yes, some pretty visuals, but a dark sadness overwhelmed the movie so that it was impossible to find beauty. It was advertised poorly: I expected a fantasy adventure movie; instead it was a deep psychological saga, the mood and tone were heavy solemn and glum. I recalled after the movie that the book was a little creepy. Conflicted college students exploring the dark sides of childhood and struggles of life may enjoy it, but if you are looking for lighthearted fun : stick to Pixar movies. Looking forward to Tim Burton's 'alice in wonderland' !

stupid, dull, incomprehensible, would be the nicest things that come to mind. the critics that enjoyed it and suggested we go should be embarassed. it's all about them not wanting to diminish the director..... it was an awful amateurish movie--big deal some of the effects were well done.
