    A Night at the Improv

    Ben Stiller's impression of Joaquin Phoenix may have scored big laughs with the audience. But according to Page Six, rehearsals for the skit were anything but funny. Stiller reportedly had "a meltdown" because he didn't think the original script was up to par. Stiller then "decided he could do better" but "refused to tell them what he planned until he arrived at the Kodak Theatre." The hair must've been a dead giveaway. (Feb. 26)

    Old Flame

    Jennifer Aniston's Oscar run-in with Angelina Jolie was "quietly anti-climatic," dishes OK!. The reason: Jen kept all her attention on ex-husband Brad Pitt. "Once her eyes met Brad's that night, it rekindled all the old feelings ... She has never stopped loving Brad," revealed a source for the mag. As for Brad, the source added: "Just because Brad was swept off his feet by Angelina, it didn't mean he stopped loving Jen." Doesn't sound very anti-climatic to us. (Feb. 25)

    Madonna's post-Oscars party came complete with a bouncer -- co-host Demi Moore, who spent the night kicking people out who weren't on the guest list. The crowd inside was thin because the ladies were super-selective about who made the cut, according to Showbiz Spy. We're assuming Guy Richie and Sean Penn's invites were lost in the mail.

    Early Exits

    Oscar presenters like Natalie Portman and Daniel Craig bailed on the show early to go to the Vanity Fair viewing party, dishes The Envelope. There, they joined up with the likes of Uma Thurman, Joan Collins, Rachel Weisz and director Darren Aronofsky for dinner and drinks. Maybe it's time for the Academy to start serving food and cocktails during the telecast, a la the Golden Globes.

    Was Nicole Kidman trying to hide a baby bump at the Vanity Fair party? The Australian actress was seen outside suspiciously holding her stomach in a fitted dress, spies Perez Hilton. Considering how svelte Kidman remained throughout her pregnancy with Sunday Rose, she could be in her second trimester with that belly.

    Jennifer Aniston held court at a pre-Oscars charity event when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were no-shows. To calm her nerves in case she came face-to-face with her ex and his new love, reveals OK!, Jen threw her own party beforehand with guests like John Mayer, Courteney Cox-Arquette and Tobey Maguire. Oh well, guess we'll just have to wait till next year for the much anticipated Jen-Ang face-off.

    The cream of the Hollywood crop was at the Vanity Fair party. Everyone from Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep to Robert De Niro and Josh Brolin turned up for the star-studded affair, reveals Hollywood Today. Along with fancy fare, the guests noshed on bagels, egg and bacon sandwiches and In-N-Out burgers. Even A-listers have cravings.

    Cruise Control

    Exes Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz had an awkward run-in at a pre-Oscars CAA party, scoops Page Six. When Penelope tapped Tom on the shoulder to say hello, the actor was "visibly flustered" and quickly turned away after the two shared a "weird" hug. The encounter gets even weirder: Katie Holmes wasn't there.
