Oscars Worst Dressed

    Cheshire Smile

Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg -- who was on deck to present Best Supporting Actress -- looks like the cat that ate the canary in this hippy, flowy leopard-print dress. Hey, Whoopi, this 'View' leaves us wanting more. (Or, rather, less ... a whole lot less.)

    Stiff Competition

Kate Winslet is a perennial red carpet favorite, but this Yves Saint Laurent ensemble doesn't do her natural beauty justice. The steel gray color is gorgeous, but the trendy one-shouldered style and mesh and lace overlay read overly styled and underwhelming.

    Busting Out

We're sure Sarah Jessica Parker feels like a princess in this grand, sweeping Dior Haute Couture tulle and sequin gown, in a color she calls "barely mint." But we don't think a real royal would put her cleavage on display for all the red carpet to see. Tsk, tsk!

    Wall Flower

Wondering what Beyonce's doing at the Oscars? We're too busy trying to get past her elaborate House of Dereon Couture ball gown. The curve-hugging black and gold mermaid style is too much, even for Oscar. But we'll give her this much: She sure knows how to distract people.

    In the Fold

You know what really creases us? Over-complicated fashion. Heidi Klum's origami-inspired Roland Mouret gown is this year's best (or worst) example, with an asymmetrical neckline, random cutouts and a leg-baring slit stealing our attention from her model physique.

    White Out

Best Actor nominee Mickey Rourke does not disappoint, sporting a white John Paul Gaultier suit and black vest with chain detail, accessorized with Sama sunglasses and a picture of his deceased dog, Loki, around his neck. We wouldn't expect anything less ...

    Small Wonder

Did Zac Efron accidentally toss his tux in the dryer? The 'High School Musical' heartthrob's look was finished with some very petite details, including a tiny bowtie and a shrunken lapel. Don't even get us started on that slicked-back hair ...

    Quick Change

Word is Vanessa Hudgens had Marchesa lengthen a short dress for her Oscar appearance. Our take? The sequined, ruched, flower-encrusted, tulle mermaid skirted gown was certainly not short on embellishments. She's a pretty girl, but she gets lost in this sea of trimmings.

    Major Overkill

Being nominated for an Oscar is exciting, but 'Doubt' star Amy Adams might've let it all go to her head … or her necklace. Her bold red Carolina Herrera gown, with black seaming detail, is forced to compete with an equally gorgeous -- but incredibly ornate -- multi-stone Fred Leighton necklace.

    Not Into the Blue

Freida Pinto has single-handedly made the red carpet more colorful this awards season -- too bad she's piled on so many trends for the Oscars. Her one-shouldered John Galliano gown has a lace sleeve, sparkly detail and a sheer overlay, all of which compete with the stunning cobalt blue color.
