January 8th, 2005 would have been the 70th birthday of Elvis Presley. It's also to be the 58th birthday of my musical hero, David Bowie. "Yeah?" you're all saying. "So fucking what, mate?" Well, the thing is, it's also the date of a show by NY indie punk band The Martinets who happen to be fronted by Magnolia Pictures (and NYC film and guitar fixture) Eamonn Bowles.

The band's other members are Daniel Rey on guitar, Dave Rick on bass and Roger Murdock on drums who all have some serious NYC chops, having played in and produced bands including The Fabians, Bongwater, Yo La Tengo, King Missle and The Ramones! The show is at Magnetic Fields in Brooklyn and I promise a great time for all. If you end up bored, I'm sorry but you're a square, daddio!
