The Art Director's Guild has announced that it will award its prestigious Outstanding Contributions to
Cinematic Imagery Award to Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou.
The director of 2004's acclaimed House of Flying Daggers, Yimou has previously been nominated for three Academy Awards for best Foreign Language Film. This is the first time the ADG will present this award to a director of foriegn language films. Prior recipients of the ADG honor include directors Clint Eastwood, Blake Edwards, and Frank Oz.
Yimou will be honored on February 12, 2005, as part of the Ninth Annual Art Directors Guild Awards. At this ceremony, the ADG will also present a Lifetime Achievement Award to Production Designer William Creber, as well as seven other awards for achievements in film, television, and commericals.
