Nielsen National Research Group announced Monday that it
will set up a New York-based branch named Nielsen NRGi, for the express purpose of facilitating market
research within the independent film community. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the NRGi
will concentrate on developing "such new methodologies as weekly art house tracking, expanding into online tests of
commercials and trailers, East Coast-based screenings and custom location-based testing."
So if I understand this correctly, the introduction of NRGi will graciously allow independent filmmakers to "fine-tune" their creative visions … by focus-grouping them to death. Awesome.
