From the Celebrity Diplomacy files: director Francis Ford Coppola met with Russian President Vladimir Putin this weekend, to discuss "resuming and developing co-operation in the field of filmmaking" between Russia and the U.S. Putin presented Coppola with the Russian Film Academy's Golden Eagle Award for his achievements in cinematography; Coppola presented Putin with a copy of his daughter Sofia's 2003 picture, Lost in Translation, on DVD. Coppola went on to commend Putin for a recent speech denouncing anti-semitism, and then remarked, "In person, you look much younger than on TV." Oh, Francis! Behave!
