Are you always coming up one or two awards short in your annual Oscar® pool? Are you always
confounded by the winner, who seems to know which short film to pick? Well, if you're in New York City, here's your
chance to even out the field! For the second year in a row, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and
Sciences (AMPAS) will give film fans a rare opportunity to see this year's nominees in the animated and live
action short film categories.
Popular TCM host Robert Osborne (what a voice, eh?), author of "75 Years of the Oscar: The Official History of the Academy Awards, " will introduce two sets of screenings on Saturday, February 19th, at the Academy Theater at the Lighthouse International (located at 111 East 59th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues).
In 2002 AMPAS started the popular "Monday Nights with Oscar" screening series (each screening was intro'd by Osborn and often another guest), showing such classic films as Gigi, You Can't Take It With You and The Deer Hunter.
The screenings will be at 12:30pm and 4pm and tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid I.D. Tickets may be reserved over the phone by calling (888) 778-7575. All orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
