Prompted by the presumed sucess of Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato's documentary Inside Deep Throat, which opens Friday, distributor Mark Borde and copyright owners Arrow Productions are having prints of the original, Linda Lovelace-starring porn flick remastered for theatrical release. The release of Deep Throat is not officially alligned with World of Wonder, Universal Pictures, or any other subsidiary behind the production or release of Inside Deep Throat; however, as Variety quotes Borde, "I wouldn't do this with any other (porn) movie, and I wouldn't do it if there wasn't a documentary."

Ten new prints of the film will be struck, and five of them will be re-edited to earn an R-rating. Greg Laemmle of the Leammle Theaters chain has confirmed that he is in negotiations to show the blue film, as double feature with the documentary, or as a midnight feature in its own right. Deep Throat, originally released in 1972, cost $25,000 to make and has earned over $600 million, making it the most profitable film of all time.
