The BBC has an interview with Imelda Staunton and Mike Leigh, Vera Drake's Oscar nominated star and director, in regards to what they're doing to prepare for the big night. Staunton is "more concerned with staving off hunger during the ceremony than winning," whilst Leigh admits that "the odds for the Oscars are not in our favour." The duo has a truly refreshing outlook on the whole thing - you would really believe them if they were to say, "it's an honor just being nominated." As Staunton says, they just plan to "go out there and have a bloody good time." The Academy Awards would be a whole different beast is the rest of the nominees were able to say the same.
