Curious news coming out of the Quentin Tarantino file this morning: the Reservoir Dogs director is reportedly in talks with New Line Cinema to write and direct a new installment of the Friday the 13th horror franchise. According the the Hollywood Reporter, New Line originally wanted to follow up 2003's Freddy vs Jason with a Friday sequel involving a face-off with the Ash character from the Evil Dead series. When that film's creator/Spiderman auteur Sam Raimi was declined to give up the rights, the studio turned to Tarantino. The two parties are said to be in talks this week; if a deal is made, the Friday film will be Tarantino's first for a studio other than Miramax - perhaps he's trying to keep himself busy until the Weinstein Brothers are secure in their new venture?
