In "Are You Sure You Want To Do That?" news, Variety is reporting that Ben Affleck has struck a deal to direct Gone, Baby, Gone for Paramount Studios. The film, based on a novel by Mystic River scribe Dennis Lehane, will follow a pair of Boston private detectives as they search a working-class nieghborhood for a missing girl. The project will shoot in Boston this fall; Affleck will not star. The career of Matt Damon's other half has never really recovered from the one-two-three punch of Gigli, Jersey Girl, and the dissolution of his terrifiyingly public engagement to Jennifer Lopez; this project is either the world's worst idea, or else, it's exactly what the Oscar winner needs to re-establish any sort of cred.
