Via Cinema Minima: Brad Neely got himself a copy of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone, muted the DVD and recorded his own "darkly comic" narration of Harry's first year at Hogwarts. Neely called his version, which he "showed" last summer at the Brooklyn Underground Film Festival, Wizard People, Dear Reader. WP,DR wasn't intended to be any kind of illegal thorn in any kind of corporate side - as Austin native Neely told Salon, "I hadn't ever thought, Is this wrong? or, Am I championing some sort of idea? I was just like, I'm going to make something funny." Only one problem - Warner Brothers, the studio behind the Potter franchise, forgot to laugh. Thankfully, Illegal Art has saved the day - they'll give you the option of paying $35 for a CDR of Neely's soundtrack, or downloading it via Bit Torrent for free. Now all you have to do is get your own copy of Potter, mute the DVD, and ... well, you're smart enough, you can figure out the rest.
