Buena Vista Pictures president Chuck Viane
announced Thursday that they will be moving the Touchstone Pictures psychological thriller Dark Water
up a month to July 8. In the statement Viane said they were so blown away that after viewing the final cut of the film that they knew it had potential to be a hot summer film.
The film, starring Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) and directed by Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries) is based on the Japanese horror film by the same name that was directed by Hideo Nakata (Ringu, The Ring Two). It was originally slated to be released in a very busy weekend on August 12 (Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, Domino, Four Brothers), but Buena Vista is so confident in the movie, they are now putting it up against the highly anticipated Fantastic Four on July 8th.
