panorama_ephemera2004_00000028.jpgIn today's New York Times, Manohla Dargis offers a preview of Rick Prelinger's Panorama Ephemera, a found-footage feature screening tonight at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.   Prelinger is a fierce advocate for the availability of moving images; his curated archive of advertisements, newsreels, documentaries, home movies and other ephemera has been acquired by The Library of Congress. Dargis calls Panorama "beautiful and bizarre," a "dream, or perhaps nightmare" about safety, fear, consumerism and whiteness. If, like me, you think this sounds fascinating but will be nowhere near the Walt Disney Concert Hall this evening, Panorama Ephemera is available for download from the Internet Archive, which you can access through Prelinger's website.
