Star Wars LineOn April 1st,Star Wars fans began lining up outside The Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA, for Episode III, a tradition started with Episode I, to raise money for a children's charity.  The line has raised more than $6,229 in pledges for the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation.

About 250 people have already gotten in line, but it's not as bad as it may sound. It works like this: to stand in line, you need to pledge a certain amount of hours, and have money donated for those hours. You then clock in the same way you would punch in to a job. The more hours someone clocks in line, the closer they are to the front when tickets go on sale and when doors open opening night.  There are no mandates on consecutive hours, but some people are there almost around the clock.

You can call the patient waiterson their public payphone at (323) 462-9609, or check them out online at Liningup.net.  I also highly reccomend the uber geek documentary Starwoids which followed the times and trials of the line for Episode I. If you liked Trekies, than why haven't you see this?
