phoenix3.jpgThe Spring issue of Reverse Shot is online now, and amongst many worthwhile features , there's an interview with Charlie Kaufman, in which he dispels the notion that his Oscar-winning screenplay for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is all that experimental; a wrap-up of 2004's best and worst films; an essay by Kristi Mitsuda in defense of The Brown Bunny; and, finally, Brad Westcott asks us to "yawn with" him over Sideways.

The online film journal is also hosting a rep festival this week at the Makor in New York, with O & As and director's talks. The festival comes to a close this saturday with a reappraisal of M. Night Shyamalan's The Village, which the screening notes describe as a "brilliant transformation of contemporary politics into mythmaking and his fascinating synthesis of 19th century gothic Americana and contemporary political doubletalk."
