TranformersLast week in The Geek Report, we ran a rumor that Michael Bay (The Rock, Pearl Harbor) was in talks to direct the live-action adaptation of The Transformers.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the story today saying DreamWorks/Paramount are trying to get Bay to reteam with writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci on the project. Under their two-year, first-look deal with DreamWorks, Kurtzman and Orcirewrote Bay's The Island and wrote Transformers.

Angry Films' Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto wrote the screen story and will be producing the feature along with Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Steven Spielberg will executive produce. John Rogers wrote the initial draft. If you do the math, you'll quickly see - that's a lot of writers, which is usually a bad sign for any project. But keep your hopes up, mech fans!

Transformers will be released on November 17, 2006.
