diary2.jpgDiary of a Mad Black Woman auteur Tyler Perry has signed a $2 million deal to pen a book in the voice of Madea, the "irreverent, gun-toting grandmother" featured in Diary and in most of his plays. Ten publishers fought over the rights to Don't Make a Black Woman Take Off Her Earrings: Madea's Uninhibited Commentaries on Love and Life, which Riverhead Books will publish in 2006. Though it will be Perry's first book, he and Madea have a huge built in audience in the black, female, church-going demographic that made Diary a surprise hit for.
